A textured crochet clutch featuring a soft ripple stitch, mounted on a metal clutch frame and fully lined with fabric.
Skill Level- Intermediate
This pattern uses a structured ripple stitch worked flat and in the round, frequent color changes, and finishing techniques including edging, joining pieces, mounting on a frame, and sewing a fabric lining.
Finished Size: Approx. 20 cm wide × 16 cm high × 5 cm deep (after mounting on a 20 cm / 7.9 in clutch frame).
Materials
2 & 3 mm crochet hook
Clutch frame (20 cm/7.9 in)
Non-stretch cotton fabric (lining), 110 cm x 25 cm
Needle + sewing thread
Scissor/rotary cutter
Pins or clips
Sewing Machine or needle
Iron (recommended)
Yarn
For the sample shown in the pattern, I alternated between the following colors: Cerise, Rose and Pastel Pink.
To add a little extra detail, I worked the mercerised yarn together with a glitter thread. This is completely optional - you may choose to hold the yarn together with a glitter thread or work the yarn on its own.
Yarn: Mercerised Cotton Yarn (50g/280m)
Color A: (083) Cerise, 50g
Color B: (044) Rose, 50g
Color C: (042) Pastel Pink, 50g
Glitter thread: Glitter Deluxe Thread, 1 cone of 30g
You may substitute colors or omit the glitter thread if desired. If using a different yarn, aim for a similar weight and fiber with minimal stretch.
